Rules for safe sun bed tanning:

  1. It is crucial to respect the tanning times. These depend on the skin type and the type of sun bed. The initial tanning time is 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the sensitivity of the skin.
  2. A single tanning treatment consists of 1 - 10 visits. This depends on the skin type. The yearly maximum is 6 tanning treatments. It is necessary to take a break between individual treatments.
  3. A 48 hour break is needed after the first visit.
  4. A 24 hour break is recommended after each of the following visits.
  5. Do not combine using the sun bed and tanning in the sun on the same day.
  6. All cosmetics, perfumes, and jewelery should be removed from the skin before tanning.
  7. Protecting the eyes with special UV filter goggles is compulsory.
  8. You should use protective creams and oils, intended for sun bed tanning.

Skin type:

Type I

(approx. 2% of all central Europeans)
White or reddish skin, freckles, blond hair. Strong tendency to sunburn.

Type II

(approx. 12% of all central Europeans)
Fair skin, blond or red hair. Strong tendency to sunburn.

Type III

(approx. 78% of all central Europeans)
Normal skin, dark blond to brown hair. Slight tendency to sunburn.

Type IV

(approx. 8% of all central Europeans)Brown to olive skin, dark hair. Almost no tendency to sunburn.
