Paraffin is applied to the hands in liquid form, at the temperature of approximately 55 degrees Celsius, and is allowed to solidify, transferring heat to the hands. As a result of this heat, the muscles are relaxed, the tendons, ligaments and joint sockets are relaxed and softened, leading to relief from pain.
